Home Sweet Home with the Pentax K1000

44_110002020017For the most part I test out cameras, clean them and then list them on Etsy so they can find new homes. Sometimes I love my tested cameras so much that I add an extra roll inside of them and see if I can take more amazing shots. Then I wind up selling the camera and I have half a roll still inside that I need to shoot. That’s what happened with this particular roll. I had a customer that really needed the camera ASAP, so I shot the rest of the roll inside my apartment.

I try not to do so many shots inside of the house because I am always afraid that everything will come out dim and underexposed, but I like the way this particular set came out. It was the afternoon and the light started to come in through the windows just right. It made my apartment seem much more dreamy that it is in real life. Even a shirt I had drying near the window came out mysterious.

I try to have alot of plants inside of my home so that I can reminded of the outdoors when I start to feel couped up inside. Mainly succulents due to alot of traveling, but we have some herbs on hand too. I love cooking with fresh herbs, but I always wind up with spider mites and aphids 🙁 I blame the fact that we don’t have window screens and  everything can just come inside. Curse you moths!!! Attracted to sweet sweet light.

I installed two hanging planters on either side of my desk and they started out really small and now they trail almost all the way down to my desk.

I also have a telescope on the right side of my desk that I originally bought as a Christmas gift for my father. He went blind around that time so I decided that would be a pretty crappy gift for a blind person so I kept it (although I gave him an Amazon Echo, so he got an even better gift). On good days we can see the San Francisco Bay and Golden Gate Bridge, but it’s mainly used to spy on the moon at night.

As you may know I take so many photos, not only with my film cameras but with my phone as well. There are so many photos that live on my computer that nevr get to leave it, so I try to print and frame as many as I can. I also try to send prints to friends ant familiy as well. I have crowded up our tiny hallway with soooo many frames 🙂 I did manage to use a compact flash with this image. Fujifilm Superia X-TRA 400The bedroom doesn’t great light, so I don’t spend as much time in there unless I want to lounge about in bed or sleep. I have a vintage bust in there that I found at a thrift store that I thought was amazing, but it might just be creepy. I use it to hold my pins and statement necklaces. I like that the light coming from the window was overwhelmingly bright, but it provided the right amount of light to see the pins and not make it a shilouette.

I’m happy I took these photos of the apartment so I can remember them for years to come and be able to look back at my time here. I feel that the low light was better  captured due to the higher flim speed, but there was not not as much going on to cause alot of grain. Fujifilm Superia X-TRA 400

If you have been wondering what type of film I used for this post it was Fujifilm Superia X-TRA 400, which you can find at your local drug store. I got this roll from CVS in particular. You can also find it online at Amazon.com at the linked picture below. If you purchase through the link you will be helping me fund my on going camera adventures.

Thank you for taking the time to explore a little bit of my humble home. Happy shooting and until next time!

I’m smiling because much the same has happened to me. I have plenty of around-the-house shots to prove it!
