When I first started my blog I use to review some of the sub boxes that I subscribed to, but I mainly cancelled most since moving and have not had time to look into getting back into them. I’m considering taking a look soon and seeing what’s out there again and what can work for my new work from how lifestyle.Scent Trunk is a perfume sampling subscription box that sends you niche fragrances every month. When you sign up, you take a scent profile quiz to help them suggest recommendations for you to try. You can also type in other perfume brands that you like to help with their selections. You then can rate the fragrances that you receive to help further tailor your future selections as well as earning reward points that you can redeem for coupons. I usually don’t have a huge arsenal of fragrances that I use on a daily basis so this subscription is nice to get a taste of the high end brands that I generally do not have access to.
This month’s Julep box was a little different for me as I went with the It Girl box instead of my usual Boho Glam. I was not as interested in the beauty products so I took having 3 nail colors instead of the lotion that they were offering. Each month you receive a goodie box of Julep products that consist of 2 nail polishes plus another item that can either be another nail polish or a beauty item such a a lotion or mascara. The items are promised to be a value of $40 or more. The items that are sent to you are based on a quiz that you take that makes you out to be one of four categories. You are sent an email the 20th of each month that gives you a preview of what is coming next month and you have between the 24-27th to change what you would like to another of the categories, send it to a friend or simply cancel that month. On top of the subscription you receive 20% off all of their items and free shipping for being a member and every month you can have add on’s to your box for a low as $5.
The colors that were featured in the It Girl box were Simone, which was a lillac color, Shenae, a minty green shimmery color and Teri, a soft pastel coral color. All of them were a pastel chalky kind of pallet that are perfect for spring.
The bonus beauty item this month was a very practical strawberry flavored pink tinted lip balm. It is a nice size, but thin enough to be able to able to carry around with you, either stashed in your purse or in your pocket. It goes on very creamy and keeps your lips super moist. I used it one day walking around Boston and it was very nice to have handy.
This was a good box with colors that are pleasing to the eye and a useful beauty product that I will actually use. The value of the box came out to about $48 which is worth the cost of the subscription.
I have tried using the Simone and Shenae colors on my nails, but I am finding them to be very goupy and hard to control. I actually gave up on the Simone because I was always getting built up areas of polish. The Shanae was better, but still the same consistency. I was able to get a good coat below and I finished it off with the Julep Freedom Polymer Coat on top! Perfect for St. Paddy’s day coming up.

I have recently got into this kick where I am obsessed with subscription boxes. In the last 2 months I have managed to subscribe to 3. They are currently for Umba Box, Julep and for Popsugar Must Have. Yesterday I received my second Umba Box which contains handmade goodies. The says that they will send you 2-3 modern and whimsical handmade products every month. The cost is about $25 a month plus shipping and they claim to give you at least $25 worth of items. I subscribed for 3 months during a deal where they offered 1 month free for a total of 4 months. The deal was done through their facebook page so I highly recommend that you connect with them to see what goodies they are offering.
So for the unveiling of the November Box you can see all the goodies inside in the above picture. This box contained 3 smaller items that consisted of candy, a hardback notebook and a set of clothed pins.
Starting with the biggest item the Notebook is very cute and it is made by To Boldly Fold. It is about 5 by 3.5″ in size and has a hard cover. Looking at both her stores on her website and Etsy I am not able to exactly price the value of this notebook. It seems to be a specially made order for Umbra, but based on her other items I would price this at about $18-20.
You can find her other items at the links below:
The next item was a set of 6 decorated clothes pins from Earth Cookie Creations. These are nice to have to hang maybe pictures or reminders on a string in your home. They also come with handy magnets on the back so you can stick them on your fridge or any other metal surface. Too bad my fridge is not magnet, otherwise they would be been used there. Based on her Etsy store, where she hand makes other paper items like pin wheels and note cards, it looks like the cost of these clothes pins would be about $4.
You can find some of her other products in her Etsy store below:
Last but not least was this tiny bag The Caramel Jar. It contained 3 handmade and wrapped Fleur de Sel Caramels. The label claims that they are 8 oz, but it was more like 2-3 oz. Nonetheless these tasted amazing and were just enough to get you hooked. I gave a try to my boyfriend and he had to have a whole piece to himself. On comparing the size of the bag and what is in her Etsy shop, they are about the size of her wedding sample pack which has a value of $3.50.

Overall this was a good box and total value came out to about $25. I think it was worth it considering you would have to pay shipping for any of the items, and it’s nice to get a mix of different things.
Can’t wait for the December Box!
